Taunton Brewing Company began production of Taunton Ale in October 2006 in the cellar of the New Inn Halse. We outgrew the amenities at the Inn and moved to well appointed facilities at West Bagborough, in the foot hills of the Quantocks. With more space, new equipment and larger brewing capacity we are able to produce a wider range of beers all with their own distinctive characters.
Our portfolio of four, ongoing, beers and seasonal beers has proved popular including ‘Taunton 40’ a celebratory beer to welcome the return to their base, in Taunton, of 40 Royal Marinie Commando Brigade from Afghanistan. It was a 4.0% sandy coloured beer with a refreshing vanilla taste. As we go to press, .
The wealth of brewing knowlede gleaned over thirty years, by Colin and Michael, have made our beer well received locally. Our aim is to continue serving the local community, doing out best to use ingredients produced in the West Country supporting Somerset and Devon manufacturers.
Tuckers of Newton Abbott procure the barley, from Devon and Somerset, to make the malt and how lucky we are to have Exmoor water on our door-step. The hops, although not strictly west of England, are grown in Herefordshire.
